Greetings and Salutations,

Hey Everybody...I'm Baaaacccckkkk!!! Welcome back to the return of The Damn Newsletter!

Well all I know its been awhile (almost 5 months according to one reader) and I gotta tell you, I missed this. Sorry it's been so long but I've been juggling alot. You guys know that not only do I have a lot on my plate but I like to have 6 or 7 overstuff plates (Dang, no wonder I gained so much weight...lol.) I look forward to letting you in on things in the upcoming weeks. No need make a 12 page newsletter. Besides I have bigger fish to fry and serve up to you.

What can I say about business?! Besides that business has kept me...well busy. IDLE of the Peach is thriving and currently in the studio. Even though they are creating new music, they still doing shows locally as we prepare for major city push. Shout Out of the Week time! This one is a no brainer! Shout Out of the Week goes out to Kimberly Godard. I can say enough how I leaned on my friend the last several weeks. Personal assistant to IDLE of the Peach, my lunch buddy at work, and probably the most important...LETTING ME VENT ABOUT EVERYTHING!!! That alone has helped me with my sanity. Thanks for everything Kim!

Okay. Quick story to explain the name of this newsletter for the Hip Hop impaired. “We Major” refers to a Kanye West and Nas song from the album Late Registration in 2005. On Nas’ verse describes how he didn’t have any idea on how his rap on the song should be. He asked Kayne what he thought and West told him that the fans wanted a classic Nas rhyme on this song (paraphrasing all of this of course) so Nas delivered. This was kind of the case for me…writing a newsletter for the first time in months. I didn’t know whether to give you a silly one or a serious one. A top 10 list of some random subject or an unedited summer blog series describing my struggles. So like Nas I decided to give you classic Jarratt “Damn” Butler (it’s the 10 year anniversary of the “Damn” moniker…congrats to me!) Classic Jarratt at least in the newsletter sense is to write what comes from my heart and off the top of my head. I write about lessons learned. So what have I learned since my hiatus?!

• I’ve learned patience (well at least more than I had) from my daughter.
• I have learned to have more faith in God from my mom.
• I have learned perseverance through my trials and tribulations.
• I’ve learned the true meaning of unselfishness by people that I will be eternally grateful for.
• I have learned that my “true friends” will always have unwavering support for me.
• I have learned that situations that may seem like problems at first but may teach you a much needed lesson in the end.
• I have learned that Kobe Bryant really is the best player in the league and the Lakers are the best team in the NBA (wait, I already knew that).
• I’ve learned that there’s no substitution for hard work…no matter how talented you are or claim to be.
• I’ve learned that a person is sometimes at their strongest when they admit they need help.
• I’ve learned that I’m a World Cup fan now.
• I have learned that I still can’t come to terms with Michael Jackson’s death and it’s been over a year now.
• I’ve learned as I’m writing this…this was a newsletter topic before so I’m going to add “again” to the title.
• I have learned that each and every one of my friends are a gift and I should cherish them every chance I get and not just by dropping them a line on a social network.
• I’ve learned that I don’t know all the words to Jay-Z’s “Empire State of Mind” and wish I had realized that before I did karaoke.

I have learned a million lesson…and I hope to learn a million more…

Those are just my thoughts…right or wrong…just what I’m feeling at the time!!!
